The rules
Daylight saving time in the US starts on the second Sunday in March at 2:00 AM local time and ends on the first Sunday in November at 2:00 AM. Each time zone changes at 2:00 AM its own local time, so the switch rolls across the country over several hours.
Exceptions
Hawaii and most of Arizona do not change their clocks, and neither do Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands or American Samoa. The Navajo Nation in northeastern Arizona does use daylight saving time.
